There are concerns that ending the mandatory no-fault system may prompt some drivers to drop Personal Injury Protection coverage in order to reduce their auto insurance premiums, leaving them financially unprepared for an accident. Personal Injury Protection covers drivers for medical bills and lost income. For people without other medical insurance, it could make the difference between a minor injury equaling a minor inconvenience or a major debt. It is highly recommended to get an uninsured motorist coverage because if the driver or anyone sitting in the car gets injured. There is another policy called Bodily Injury Insurance, which protects others if you make a mistake.

The White House wants to use the issue of uninsured children to resurrect the president’s long-dormant proposals to change the federal tax code to help the uninsured, adults and children alike, Grassley said, calling that a laudable goal but unrealistic politically. “The president has a goal that I share, that we need to take care of the uninsured through private health insurance.” White House lobbying has targeted the bill’s price and the mechanism that the bill uses to pay for itself, a 61-cent increase in the federal tax on a pack of cigarettes. Grassley said he was surprised to hear Bush bring up his broader health policy goals.

Auto Insurance Scam

According to authorities, on May 7 and May 26, 2004, the three Worcester residents recruited people to “participate in staged accidents so that these individuals would then file fraudulent insurance claims against their auto insurance carriers for injuries they would claim to have received in these accidents and for lost wages due to their injuries,” the news release said. “On one occasion, Bonnette was involved in a physical altercation with one of the individuals who participated in a staged accident but did not want to file insurance claims,” according to the state attorney general’s office. The insurance companies paid the suspects’ claims in two of the three accidents. One company was suspicious of the claim and did not pay.
