Health Insurance Policies for Children

Bush said that “The policies of the government ought to be to help poor children and to focus on poor children, and the policies of the government ought to be to help people find private insurance, not federal coverage. And that’s where the philosophical divide comes in.” Bush delivered the veto, only his fourth while in office, with little of the pomp the administration puts forward when it takes stands that it sees as politically advantageous. A number of Republicans have complained that they have been poorly served by the president’s move, which could hurt GOP candidates in moderate districts.
