Police Now Know Who Really Has Auto Insurance
By James Tam on September 4th, 2007
By January next year, Texans who do not have insurance will have a hard time going unnoticed by the police. The “Texas Financial Responsibility Verification Program” is a new database giving police up-to-date information on any drive telling them if they have insurance cover or not.
Insurance companies will have to inform the state every week with who has insurance cover and who has insurance but are late with payments.
If you drive without an insurance cover you will have to pay the fine of $175 to $350 for the first offense.
